MONEY & SECURITY

The Five-Minute Money Check-In

Four calm questions that can reveal what deserves attention—without turning your afternoon into an accounting project.

4 minute read

1. What comes in every month?

Write down the income you can count on: pensions, government benefits, withdrawals, rent or part-time work. Use the amount that actually reaches your account.

2. What leaves automatically?

Review recurring payments and subscriptions. Look for services you no longer use, insurance that needs review and bills that have quietly increased.

3. What large expense is approaching?

A dental bill, home repair, trip or family commitment is easier to handle when it enters the plan early. Choose the next likely large expense and estimate it.

4. Who could step in if needed?

Make sure one trusted person knows where essential information is kept and whom to contact. They do not need control of your money; they need a clear path if you ask for help.

Stop after five minutes

The goal is not to solve everything. Circle one item that deserves a longer look and schedule it. Small, regular reviews can be more useful than one exhausting financial overhaul.
